SUE SHIELDS AHMER, 63 ROCKFORD - Sue Shields Ahmer, 63, of Rockford went to be with the Lord on Oct. 7, 2009, in her home, surrounded by her family. Born June 30, 1946, to Margaret (Boogher) Shields and Robert Shields Sr. Graduated from East High School. Attended Illinois State. Married Bruce Ahmer on Dec. 31, 1966. Employed as a medical transcriptionist for Swedish-American Hospital for more than 20 years. Devoted member of Rockford First Assembly, also attended Rock Church, Cathedral Baptist Church and Northeast Christian Church. Sue was involved with the youth group for many years, taught Sunday school, and also led a grief group. She enjoyed scrapbooking, sewing, gardening, and most of all spending time with all children, but especially her grandchildren, whom she loved more than anything in life. Survivors include loving husband, Bruce; children, Stephanie (Scott) Anderson and Synda (James) Gable; grandchildren, Anae and Cade Anderson, Aiden Ahmer and Jamison Gable; brothers, Robert (Pam) Shields Jr., Teddy (Cindy) Jones, Larry (Penny) Jones, K.C. Jones and Steven (Michelle) Shields; sisters, Linda (Bruce) Petty and Cindy (Rod) Ekberg; stepmother, Vivian Shields; brother-in-law, Russ Pearson; and sister-in-law, Vicky (Ed) Spencer. Predeceased by parents; brother, Danny; sister-in-law, Debbie; and son, Brice. Sue's family would like to say a special thank you to Hospice Care of America for taking such wonderful care of her. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, in Rockford First Assembly, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Arrangements by Honquest Family Funeral Homes with Crematory, Rockford Chapel.
