Pam was my closest cousin. Our lives went in different directions but we were always close.  Both of her parents died young and my parents took over that roll in her life.  My Dad, Pam's uncle mentioned in the article called her his other daughter.  She fought her cancer the same way that she always faced life with no holds bared.  Pam was part of a research group that lead to many advances in breast cancer treatment.  I have a tree in my yard that was planted in her memory.  Every day I am reminded how strong and well rooted she was.

Pam and I were good friends in school.  We both went to beauty school and had a lot in common.  I was very sad to hear she passed so many years agon.

Pam and I became friends the moment she arrived at Jackson Grade School.  When one of her parents died, the class selected me to go with our principal, Miss Mortenson, to have lunch with Pam.  I brought along a present for her from all our 6th grade classmates, a pleated, plaid skirt and sweater.  We established a bond that lasted until we graduated from East.  Our junior year our English teacher, Mr. Fish, often praised Pam and me for our writing.  We both became babysitters for his children.  As Pam requested in her obituary above, I shall remember always the sunshine and the sea treasures for those two things brought me to Florida.  Makes me happy to know she spent her adult life in love and laughter.
